Hectic Acres
Farm chores against the clock, a few seconds each

Soup's Up drops a small dumpling in a tall chef's hat into a restaurant kitchen in the middle of service. Every order is one word and a few seconds: crack the egg, stir the pot, sear the patties, toss the dough. Get it wrong and it ends up on the cook; lose all three hats and the service is over. Twelve quick kitchen jobs, a RUSH HOUR every tenth order and stations from Pot Washer to Legend of the Kitchen.
Did you like Soup's Up?
Soup's Up takes place in a restaurant kitchen in the middle of service, and the newest cook is a small dumpling in a very tall hat. Between dishes an order ticket rolls down the rail, and with it comes a small sign for the station, one big word, a hand showing what to do and a few seconds on the fuse along the top. Get it right and the cook beams. Get it wrong and the mistake lands on the cook: egg all over it, a lid on its head, pizza dough flopped over its head, a sooty face from a burnt patty.
There are twelve jobs across the kitchen. CRACK! taps the egg open once the crack has gone all the way round, STIR! circles the big pot to keep it from boiling over, and SEAR! turns each patty when its side has gone golden. CHOP! cuts the carrot at every dashed line but never where the cook's mitten holds it, TOSS! throws pizza dough so it spins open inside the dashed ring, and PEEL! follows the spiral round a potato in one long curl. PLATE! drags each garnish onto its spot on a turning plate, BLOW! cools two spoons of soup in turn so neither boils nor freezes, and TASTE! picks the right jar for the soup's face: cold soup wants chilli, hot soup wants ice and sour soup wants honey. You tap, hold, drag, swipe, circle, rub and trace, and the first orders are the easiest ones.
A service is endless and lasts until all three chef's hats are gone, one for every job that goes wrong. The pace creeps up order by order, with a HOTTER! sign every five orders, up to about twice the speed. Every tenth order is RUSH HOUR: a ticket shows three ingredients, then everything in the kitchen rides past on a belt and you tap the three in order. Clear it for a NEW STATION!, from Pot Washer to Peeler, Line Cook and on to Legend of the Kitchen, and a lost hat comes back. TONIGHT'S SERVICE shows the order you reached, your best order, the dishes done and your station. Your best order is saved in your browser, and every job you have met waits on THE MENU to be practised on its own.
Soup's Up is more about timing than speed. On CRACK! the egg knocks on a steady beat and a little ding marks the knock that finishes the crack: tap before the next knock. On TOSS! a marker climbs the gauge while you hold; let go inside the green band, never at the top. On SEAR! each patty cooks at its own pace, so watch them all and turn each one as it goes golden. SALT! takes a moment to fall, so stop rubbing before the line, and on SERVE! stop short of a vent while it rumbles and cross once it has blown. STIR! and BLOW! are won by lasting: keep circling, and give most puffs to the faster-heating spoon without freezing either.
The hand under the word shows the move. The first three orders are always CRACK!, PLATE!, STIR! or TOSS!; then the pace creeps up every order, with a HOTTER! sign every five, until it holds at about twice the start from order 46. At RUSH HOUR read the ticket while the belt waits, then tap only the ingredient you need next: a tap on bare belt costs nothing, and the one you want is never more than a few items away. Practise any job you have met on THE MENU.
Yes. Soup's Up is free to play in your browser on Kiloo. There is nothing to download, no account to make and nothing to buy. Your best order and the jobs you have met are saved in the browser on this device, so they are there for your next service.
Yes, upright or sideways. Every job is done with one finger: tap, tap left and right in turn, hold, drag, swipe, circle, rub or trace, as the hand before each job shows. On a computer the mouse does the same, Space or Enter presses OPEN KITCHEN and NEXT SERVICE, P or Esc pauses and M mutes.
Every tenth order a ticket shows three ingredients, then the belt rolls and everything rides by. Tap the three in the ticket's order and they hop into the pot; the wrong one sends the belt wild and costs a hat. Clear it for a lost hat back and a NEW STATION! when the order brings one, from Peeler at 10 to Legend of the Kitchen at 70.
Your score is the order you reach before the last chef's hat goes. TONIGHT'S SERVICE shows that order, your best order, the dishes done and your station, and stamps NEW BEST! when you beat your record. Your best order is kept in this browser, and practice from THE MENU never changes it.
