Sun's Out
A hectic beach day, a few seconds at a time

Brush the spinach off a vampire's fangs, wind a mummy back into their bandage, tuck in a little dragon before they sneeze soot: Monster Motel is a run of tiny jobs, each a few seconds long and told in one word. Three room keys are your lives, and every tenth room a very grand cyclops comes to inspect the suite.
Did you like Monster Motel?
Monster Motel is a cosy roadside motel under a purple night sky, and every guest is a friendly monster. You are the night staff: a tiny ghost bellhop in a red cap with a gold band, floating from room to room with room service in their mittens. Between jobs a flock of bats flaps across the screen, and the number in the top bar tells you which room you have reached.
Each job is one word and one look. BRUSH! is rubbing a vampire's teeth clean while their grin keeps getting wider. WRAP! is circling round a mummy to wind them back up before a kitten unrolls them. TUCK! is a swipe up to pull the blanket back over a sleeping dragon, COMB! is swiping through a werewolf's knots the way the fur grows, and SHH! is holding a mitten over a snoring guest's mouth while the owl inspector walks past the window, but not for too long. FEED! brings tomato juice to the vampire, a bone to the werewolf and a sock to the blob, who swallows anything carried too close, and PEEK! is keeping your eye on a shy sock monster while the laundry baskets shuffle. When a job goes wrong it is slapstick: a foamy sneeze, a puff of soot, a werewolf frizzed up all over.
A run is endless: the guests keep calling until all three room keys have dropped off their hooks, one for every job that goes wrong. Each room is a little faster than the last, up to about twice the starting pace, with a BUSY NIGHT! sign every five rooms. Every tenth room is the VIP GUEST: a tall cyclops in a top hat inspects the suite through their monocle, and you tap everything out of place, from a crooked painting to a sock on the lamp, before the monocle gets there. Tidy the lot for FIVE STARS!, a new job title, from Night Porter and Bellhop up to Ruler of the Night, and a lost key back. The GUEST BOOK shows the room you reached, your best room is your high score and is saved in your browser, and the GUESTS list lets you practise any job you have met.
The first three rooms only bring BRUSH!, JIGGLE!, KEY! and TUCK!, then all eleven jobs come round once before any repeats. JIGGLE! and WRAP! want a steady rhythm: alternate sides to jiggle the key up, and keep circling so the kitten cannot unroll the mummy. Others turn on one good moment. In KEY! tap when the key with the lock's shape points at the door. In PEEK! keep your eyes on one basket, as you can only choose once the shuffling stops, and later rooms shuffle more. In TUCK! swipe up only when the blanket is off, or it goes over the dragon's head. In SHH! the window glows just before the owl appears: put the mitten on then and hold until it has gone, but not too early, as more than four snores held in come out as a HONK.
Each room is a little quicker, with BUSY NIGHT! every five, until the pace levels off at about twice the start around room 46. The VIP GUEST every tenth room checks the suite in a fixed order: the lamp on the left, the painting, the pillow, the plant, the duck, then the mirror and the drawer on the right. So tidy from left to right; tapping something already tidy only earns a tut.
Yes. Monster Motel is free to play in your browser on Kiloo, with nothing to download, no account to make and nothing to buy. Your best room and the jobs you have met are saved in the browser on this device, ready for your next night shift.
Yes. Every job uses one finger, upright or sideways: tap, hold, drag, swipe, rub, trace or circle, as the little hand shows before it starts. On a computer the mouse does the same, Space or Enter starts a run and works like the mouse button during a job, P or Esc pauses and M mutes.
You start with three room keys, and one drops off its hook for every job that goes wrong. The only way to win one back is the VIP GUEST every tenth room: tap everything out of place before the monocle reaches it. Most VIP nights also bring a new job title, from Bellhop at room 10 up to Owner at 70 and Ruler of the Night at 100.
The bats flutter away from the bellhop, so drag round to the far side of a bat and it flees towards the dark wardrobe on the left, which pulls it in once it is close. Start with the bat nearest the wardrobe, and never wait in the wardrobe door, because that keeps them all away. Later rooms bring four bats instead of three.
Five seconds, one word, don't drop it.
