Tiny space missions where nothing stops drifting

The new intern at Oops Inc. rides the lift, the doors open, and there is one word and a few seconds to do the job: stack, pour, catch, nap. Fail and a coffee mug spills; spill all three and the shift is over. Twenty-four quick office tasks, a pace that keeps rising and a job title that climbs from Intern to Owner of the Building.
Did you like Oops Inc.?
Oops Inc. is a tall office building, and you are its newest intern. Every job in the place comes to you, one floor at a time. The lift doors close, the display ticks up, and when they open there is a small sign for the department, one big word, a hand showing what to do and a few seconds on the fuse along the top. Do the job and the lift moves on. Get it wrong and the office shows it: coffee everywhere, a desk phone melting into a sad pile, the intern shooting up through the ceiling.
There are twenty-four tasks, each a little job of its own. STACK! drops boxes from a crane onto a pallet, and every box needs real support from the one below. POUR! fills a mug with coffee: hold to pour and let go between the marks. NAP! lets you doze at your desk while the big, kind boss doodles on the whiteboard, as long as you wake up when a foot starts tapping. CATCH! slides a tray under falling donuts, FLIP! turns the pancake while it is golden, THROW! is five darts with an aim that sways on its own, and DANCE! is a row of arrows to swipe while a colleague copies every move. You tap, hold, drag, swipe and mash, and the first floors start with the easiest jobs.
A shift is endless and lasts until all three coffee mugs are spilt, one for every task you fail. The pace creeps up floor by floor, with a FASTER! sign every five floors, up to about twice the speed. Every tenth floor is a BOSS FLOOR, a harder version of a task with a little more time. Clear it and you are PROMOTED!, from Intern to Mail Runner, Junior Clerk and on to Owner of the Building, and a spilt mug is refilled. The SHIFT REVIEW shows the floor you reached, your best floor, the tasks done and your job title. Your best floor is saved in your browser, and every task you have met waits in the TASKS list to be practised on its own.
Most jobs at Oops Inc. want one well-timed press. On STACK! tap only when the crane's box is right over the one below; on FLIP! the pancake's colour is the clock, so flip while it is golden; on THROW! one miss ends the job, so let the swaying aim drift onto the board before each dart. POUR! runs faster as the mug fills, so let go a touch early: stopping short costs nothing and you can top it up. On NAP! let go at the first tap of the boss's foot and doze again once the doodling starts. CARRY!, DODGE! and JUMP! are won by lasting until the fuse runs out.
The hand under the word shows the move: a tap, quick taps, a hold, a slide or a sweep. The first three floors bring only STACK!, POUR!, CATCH! and THROW!. Then the pace creeps up every floor, with a FASTER! sign every five, until it holds at about twice the start from floor 46. The balloon on PUMP! leaks, but each pump counts for more at speed, so a steady five taps a second is enough. A BOSS FLOOR is a usual job with more to do or a smaller target, and a little more time; clear it and a spilt mug is refilled.
Yes. Oops Inc. is free to play in your browser on Kiloo. There is nothing to download, no account to make and nothing to buy. Your best floor and the tasks you have met are saved in the browser on this device, so they are waiting for you next time.
Yes, upright or sideways. Every job is done with one finger: tap, tap fast, hold, drag or swipe, as the hand before each task shows. On a computer the mouse does the same, Space or Enter starts a shift from the title or the SHIFT REVIEW, P or Esc pauses and M mutes.
Clear a BOSS FLOOR, which comes every tenth floor, and you are PROMOTED! to the job title for that floor: Mail Runner at 10, Junior Clerk at 20, then Assistant, Team Lead, Manager, Director, Vice President and Big Boss at 80. Owner of the Building waits at floor 100. A missed boss floor spills a mug like any other job.
Every job you have met in a shift gets a card in the TASKS list; the others stay question marks. Tap a card to practise that one job again and again, starting at the first floor's pace and speeding up, with three mugs. A tick marks the jobs you have done at least once, and practice never changes your best floor.
Five seconds, one word, don't drop it.
