Tiny office jobs, floor by floor

Slap the alarm quiet, brush your teeth, find the other sock, catch your toast in your mouth: Late Again is a frantic morning in jobs of a few seconds each, while the clock ticks on from 7:00. Three alarm clocks are your lives, and every tenth job is THE BUS, which will not wait.
Did you like Late Again?
The alarm did not go off. Late Again follows a wild-haired sleepyhead in striped pyjamas through a very rushed morning, one room at a time: the bedroom, the bathroom, the laundry room, the kitchen, the hallway and out of the front door. The clock in the top bar starts at 7:00 and moves on a minute with every job, and between rooms a giant alarm clock sweeps its hand round to wipe from one to the next.
Each job is one word and one look. WAKE! is dragging a sleepy arm out from under the duvet to slap an alarm clock that keeps hopping away. BRUSH! is scrubbing the grubby teeth, but every stroke makes foam, so overdo it and it foams over. PAIR! is tapping the twin of the sock on your foot as the basket fountains socks into the air, and TOAST! is popping the toaster just in time for the slice to land in your mouth as you run past. DRESS! is dragging the clothes on in the order on their tags (trousers before pants and the pants end up on the outside), FETCH! is mashing to tug the homework from the dog and stopping the moment its ears go up, and PACK! is swiping the toys away so only the school things drop into the bag. There are keys to find under the sofa cushions, laces to tie, stairs to climb and a shower to keep at the right temperature too.
A run is endless: the jobs keep coming until all three alarm clocks have popped their springs, one for every job that goes wrong. The pace picks up with every minute and reaches about twice the starting speed by half past seven, with a HURRY! sign every five jobs. Every tenth job is THE BUS: mash to run, swipe up to hop over a puddle, a skateboard and a dog's lead, and reach the door before it closes. Catch it for ON TRACK!, a new rank, from Still in Bed and One Sock On to On Time and First Through the Door, and a lost alarm clock back. The LATE SLIP shows how many minutes you lasted, your best morning is your high score and is saved in your browser, and the TO DO list lets you practise any job you have met.
The first three jobs come from WAKE!, BRUSH!, PAIR! and TOAST!, then all eleven come round once before any repeats. Not every job is a race. CLIMB! wants a calm left, right beat: tap again while a foot is still in the air, or use the same foot twice, and down the stairs you go. In FETCH! mash, but stop the moment the dog's ears go up and wait for the head shake to pass. In BRUSH! every stroke makes foam, so scrub only the grubby teeth. In RINSE! the water takes a moment to change, so let go before it reaches the top of the smiley band. TOAST! is one tap per slice: the slice takes a moment to fly, so pop it while the sleepyhead is still on the way to the toaster.
THE BUS every tenth job puts RUN! on screen: mash to run and swipe up to hop over the puddle, the skateboard and the dog's lead, which always come in that order. Bumping into one stops you for a moment, so hop in good time. Each minute is a little quicker, with HURRY! every five jobs, and from half past seven the pace stays at about twice the start. Catching the bus brings a lost alarm clock back.
Yes. Late Again is free to play in your browser on Kiloo, with nothing to download, no account to make and nothing to buy. Your best morning and the jobs you have met are saved in the browser on this device, so they are waiting for you tomorrow.
Yes. Every job uses one finger, upright or sideways: tap, hold, drag, swipe, rub, trace or mash, as the little hand shows before it starts. On a computer the mouse does the same, Space or Enter starts a run and works like the mouse button during a job, P or Esc pauses and M mutes.
Ranks come only from THE BUS every tenth job. Catch it and you move up to the rank for that job, from One Sock On at job 10 through Half Dressed, Toast in Mouth and On Time to First Through the Door at job 80, and you win back a lost alarm clock.
Every job is a minute. The clock in the top bar moves on one minute per job from 7:00, so 7:30 means you have reached the thirtieth job. When the last alarm clock goes, the LATE SLIP shows the minutes you lasted, your best morning, how many jobs you got done and your rank. Your best morning is saved in your browser.
Five seconds, one word, don't drop it.
