Sports Day
A whole sports day, one event every few seconds

Milk the cow, shear the sheep, slam the gate before the bull strolls in: Hectic Acres is a run of tiny farm chores, each a few seconds long and told in one word. Fail one and an egg hatches, lose all three and the run is over, and every tenth day is the big harvest, a giant turnip that does not want to come up.
Did you like Hectic Acres?
Hectic Acres is a small farm in a big hurry. The farmhand is a round yellow chick in big red boots and a straw hat, and every animal on the place wants something right now: the cow needs milking, the sheep needs shearing, the goats are trotting down the lane with the bull ambling along behind them, and the piglet has run off from its mud bath. Between chores a little tractor tows a patchwork quilt across the farm, and the next job is waiting underneath it.
Every chore is one word and one look. MILK! is tapping left, right, left, right to fill the pail, and the same side twice gets you a flick of the tail. SHEAR! is rubbing the clippers over a sheep that keeps shuffling along the board. GATE! is slamming the gate after the last goat and before the bull. LASSO! is drawing a loop round a calf while it stops to sniff a flower, SNEAK! is holding to tiptoe up to a broody hen and letting go the moment she turns round, and TRACK! is tracing the piglet's hoofprints, not the hen's. A little hand shows the move each time: tap, hold, drag, swipe, rub, circle, trace or mash. Get it wrong and it is slapstick: leftover wool that floats the sheep away like a cloud, or a bull that walks off in your hat.
A run is endless: the chores keep coming until all three eggs have hatched, one for every chore that goes wrong. Each new day is a little faster than the last, up to about twice the starting pace, with a GIDDY UP! sign every five days. Every tenth day is the BIG HARVEST: mash to pull up a giant turnip while it tugs back and a crow hops on top, and the farm runs in to help as it comes up. Win it for a BLUE RIBBON!, a new title, from Chick and Egg Collector up to Ruler of the Roost, and a lost egg back. The FARM REPORT counts your days, your best day is your high score and is saved in your browser, and the CHORES button lets you practise any chore you have already met.
The first three days only bring the four gentlest chores, MILK!, SHEAR!, PICK! and FEED!; after that all eleven come round in a shuffled order before any repeats. MILK! and SHEAR! want a steady rhythm: alternate sides when you milk, because the same side twice only earns a flick of the tail, and keep rubbing after the sheep when it shuffles along the board. Other chores turn on one good moment. In GATE! one goat always stops for a snack, so wait until the last goat is through and tap while the bull is still a few steps back. In SNEAK! walk while the hen dozes and let go as soon as a question mark pops up over her. In RIDE! wait until the chick starts to slide, then flick it the other way, or down when it bounces up.
Each day is a little quicker, with GIDDY UP! every five days, until the pace levels off at about twice the start around day 46. In the BIG HARVEST every mash pulls harder as the pace rises, so a steady thumb is enough: keep mashing when the turnip tugs back, and when the crow lands on top, five quick mashes send it off. Pull the turnip up and a lost egg comes back.
Yes. Hectic Acres is free to play in your browser on Kiloo, with nothing to download, no account to make and nothing to buy. Your best day and the chores you have met are saved in the browser on this device, so they are still there the next time you play.
Yes. Every chore is played with one finger, upright or sideways: tap, hold, drag, swipe, rub, circle, trace or mash, just as the little hand shows before it starts. On a computer the mouse does the same, Space or Enter starts a run and works like the mouse button during a chore, P or Esc pauses and M mutes.
Titles come only from the BIG HARVEST every tenth day. Pull the turnip up and you get the title for that day: Egg Collector at day 10, then Stable Hand, Farmhand, Shepherd and Farmer every ten days, Harvest Champion at 70 and Ruler of the Roost at 100. The harvests on days 60, 80 and 90 bring a lost egg back but no new title.
Press CHORES on the title screen or after a run. The CHORE LIST shows every chore you have met, with a tick on those you have managed at least once, while the rest wait as question marks. Pick one and it comes round again and again, a little faster each time, until three eggs have hatched. Practice never changes your best day.
