An io game drops you into one big arena with a crowd of rivals and a single simple goal: grow, survive or finish on top. You start small, the round is short, and a leaderboard in the corner shows exactly where you stand. When a round ends you are back in the next one in seconds, which is a large part of the appeal.
The name comes from a wave of browser games that ran on .io web addresses. The games on this page keep the format but play entirely in your browser on your own: every rival in them is controlled by the computer, so a round starts at once, whatever the time of day, and you never wait for a lobby to fill. They range from cells and worms that grow by eating to tanks, holes in the pavement and party knockouts, with live top-ten boards, minimaps and your best rank kept in your browser.
Blob Arena is the classic. You are a small pastel cell among about 25 rivals: eat pellets to grow, swallow anything smaller, split with Space to catch what runs away and stay clear of the spiky viruses that burst a big cell into pieces. Worm Arena is the other classic. Your worm never stops moving, you grow by collecting light orbs, and the trick is to steer your length in front of a rival before it does the same to you. Boosting spends your length, so use it for a reason.
Hungry Hole is a good first game for a younger player. You are a hole in the pavement, and anything smaller than your rim falls in, from traffic cones up to tower blocks, in two-minute rounds against eight rival holes. Turret Rumble asks for more planning: break drifting shapes for experience, spend each level on eight stats and pick a class at level 15.
For quick, noisy rounds, try Bumper Royale, a three-round knockout show for 24 beans that takes about three minutes, or Monster Party Rush, where forty monsters race an obstacle course and the top 24 go through. Tank Headz is a three-minute free-for-all for four cartoon tanks with power shots and gadgets. Snowball Arena, a snowball fight against three elves, appears with the Christmas category in season.
In Blob Arena and Worm Arena your mouse is the steering wheel: the cell or worm follows the pointer. Hungry Hole works with the mouse or with WASD and the arrow keys. Turret Rumble, Bumper Royale, Tank Headz and Monster Party Rush drive or run with WASD or the arrow keys, and in Turret Rumble the mouse aims while the gun fires by itself. On a phone each game shows its own controls, usually a joystick or a drag to steer and one or two buttons beside it.
A few tips follow from how these games work. In the eating games, size is safety, so grow on the small stuff before you chase anything. Splitting in Blob Arena and boosting in Worm Arena make you fast but smaller, so save them for a sure catch. Turret Rumble keeps running when you pause, so pick a quiet spot first.
Yes. Every io game on Kiloo is free to play in your browser. There is nothing to download or install and no account is needed. Your best rank, best score or crowns are kept in the browser you play in.
Yes, all of them work on phones and tablets. Each game has its own touch controls: a joystick with SPLIT and EJECT in Blob Arena, drag to steer and hold BOOST in Worm Arena, drag anywhere and DASH in Hungry Hole, and a thumb stick with Jump and Dive in Monster Party Rush.
Hungry Hole is the easiest way in: steer with the mouse, swallow what fits and watch your rim grow over two minutes. If you know the format already, go straight to Blob Arena or Worm Arena. Turret Rumble suits you if you like choosing upgrades.
No. In every io game on this page the rivals are controlled by the computer, so a round starts straight away and you never wait for others to join. Some, like Bumper Royale, give the rivals names and personalities, from cautious to reckless, so the arena still feels busy.
Most rounds are short. Hungry Hole lasts two minutes, Tank Headz three minutes, and a whole Bumper Royale show about three minutes. Snowball Arena, in the Christmas season, has three-minute rounds or a ninety-second Quick round. In Blob Arena and Worm Arena you play until you are swallowed or cut off.
