Gopher Bop

Gopher Bop is the classic funfair stall, painted bright and lit by strings of warm bulbs at dusk: a green cabinet with nine holes, three rows of three, and a cheeky gopher popping out of one of them. Click or tap it, or press the number key laid out like a keypad (7 8 9 at the back, 1 2 3 at the front), and the big foam mallet comes down with a soft whump. The gopher squashes, sees stars, giggles and ducks back into its hole. Nobody is hurt, ever, and the bunnies just giggle too.

Every round lasts 60 seconds and speeds up as the clock runs down. Bops in a row build a combo that doubles, triples and then quadruples every bop, lighting the bulbs along the front of the cabinet as it grows. A golden gopher is worth five ordinary ones, a gopher in a hard hat needs two bops, and now and then a bunny pops up holding a balloon: bop it by mistake and the balloon boings the mallet away, the combo starts over and two seconds come off the clock.

There are nine stalls on the map, each adding a new trick: gophers that peek out once before popping up properly, pairs that pop up at the same moment, a cheeky one in a backwards cap that tunnels to a different hole, and a grand finale with everything at once. Every stall has three stars to win for its ticket targets, and the stars fill a shelf of plush prizes. Your stars, best scores and longest combo are saved in your browser, so there is always a high score to beat in a quick round.
