Tile Link

Tile Link is the classic connect-two puzzle, laid out on a soft blue board. Every tile carries a chunky little picture, from cats and cherries to rockets, trophies and rainbows, all drawn in code with a bold, friendly outline. Pick two tiles that match, and if a path of no more than three straight lines can join them without crossing another tile, the path flashes gold and both tiles pop. The path is allowed to run round the outside of the board, so the edges are usually the easiest place to start.

Forty levels grow from a quick six by six up to a full fourteen by eight, and each one has its own gravity rule. Some boards stay still. On others the remaining tiles fall down, slide left, squeeze in to the centre or split apart after every link, so the board you were reading a moment ago has moved by the time you look again. Every board is dealt in pairs and run through a solver before you see it, so it can always be cleared, and if you paint yourself into a corner with no link left, the board notices and shuffles itself.

The clock keeps the pressure on: every link puts two seconds back, quick links in a row build a combo, and whatever time is left at the end turns into points and up to three stars. Three hints per level light up a pair that keeps the board clearable when your brain needs a nudge. There is a daily board too, the same deal for everyone until midnight.
