Drift King

Drift King is a top-down night racer built around one feeling: the moment the back end steps out and the car keeps travelling one way while it points another. Tap the drift button and the rear tyres let go; steer into the slide and you carry the corner sideways in a long arc of smoke and glowing rubber. Let go and grip snaps back, the nose swings into line and you are straight again on the exit. The camera follows the direction you are actually travelling rather than the way the car is pointing, so a good drift reads instantly: the street stays put and the car swings across the frame.

Three circuits, each with its own weather of light. Harbour Loop is wide and fast, a container yard ringing a black basin, taken in long committed sweepers under orange dock lamps. Neon Downtown is a grid of tight blocks where shop signs hang low over the pavement and paint their colours a full car-length across the tarmac. Mountain Pass climbs into switchbacks above the city with guard rails, chevron boards and almost no street lighting, so your own headlights do most of the work. Every track runs three laps against Kaori, Vex and Rook, who drive the same physics you do: Kaori is clean and quick and rarely gets it wrong, Vex brakes far too late and slides everything, and Rook is heavy through the corners but hard to pass on a straight.

Race mode scores position and lap times, and once you have set a good one a translucent ghost of your best lap runs the line beside you. Drift attack gives you ninety seconds and an empty circuit: bank a slide cleanly and the points are yours, scrape a barrier mid-chain and you lose everything you were holding. Cones scatter, walls throw sparks and slow you down, tyre marks glow and fade behind the pack, and rain falls across the whole thing. Arrow keys or WASD with space for the handbrake; on a phone there are left, right, gas and drift buttons, or just drag a thumb across the screen to steer. Best lap and best drift score are kept on your own device.
