2048

2048 is a sliding puzzle played on a grid of numbered tiles. Every move pushes the whole board in one direction; two tiles showing the same number collide and become their sum, and a fresh 2 or 4 drops into a free square. The board fills up faster than it clears, so every move is a small trade: the merge you want now against the space you will need three moves from now.

The trick most players find on their own is the corner. Pick one, keep your biggest tile parked in it, feed the row beside it in descending order and never make the move that lifts that tile out. Do it well and the numbers climb: 128, 256, 512, each one glowing hotter than the last, until a 2048 tile burns white in the corner and the board is yours. You can stop there or keep going for 4096.

One undo is always available for the move you wish you had thought about, and a new board is one key away. Play the classic 4x4 or open the board up to 5x5 and 6x6 when you want more room to breathe. Arrow keys or WASD on desktop, a swipe on phones and tablets, and your best score and biggest tile are saved per board size in your browser. Press U to undo, N for a new game, M to mute.
