Fraction PizzaFraction Pizza

Every order arrives on a paper ticket with a fraction on it, and the chef mouse needs a hand: cut the pizza into quarters, tap three slices onto the plate, find the bigger share or slide a slice along a number line. Halves for four-year-olds, mixed numbers for eight-year-olds.

Fraction Pizza

Fraction Pizza is a fractions game set in a little pizzeria run by a cheerful chef mouse. Every order comes in on a paper ticket with the fraction in big digits, and the job is to make it real: tap the pizza cutter until the pie is in quarters, tap slices onto a plate until it holds three quarters, or drag a slice-shaped marker along a number line from 0 to 1 until it sits on two thirds. The cuts always come out fair. If a new cut would leave one slice bigger than the others, the pizza gives a little wobble and the cuts slide round until every slice is the same size, and every picture is drawn from exact angles, so what a child sees is precisely the fraction on the ticket. Cakes and chocolate bars turn up too, so a quarter is not only ever a wedge of pizza.

Three levels sit on the title screen as big 4+, 6+ and 8+ buttons. At 4+ it is halves and quarters of pizzas and cakes, with a little picture on every ticket. At 6+ come thirds, sixths and eighths, comparing two pizzas to find the bigger share (or tapping the equals button when they are the same) and the number line. At 8+ the brain work steps up: which plate shows the same as one half, what is a third of nine cherries, a quarter plus two quarters on one pizza, and one and a half pizzas written as a mixed number. Nothing needs reading. The first time a new kind of order appears, an animated hand shows how it is done.

There are no lives, no timers and no game over. A wrong answer just wobbles and plays a soft try-again note, and after a second try the right answer is shown so the round keeps moving. A round is ten quick orders and ends with confetti, a fanfare and a topping sticker for the sticker book (pepperoni, mushrooms, a very proud wedge of cheese), and the daily round adds a gold daily sticker of its own. Stars and a learned meter for each level are saved on your device, so it is easy to relax into five minutes of fractions whenever there is a spare moment.
