How to Play Wording
Spelling might seem super easy and straightforward when you know the word you’re trying to type, but in Wording online, you have no idea! All you see in front of you on each level is a selection of random letters that you have to draw a line between to spell out the mystery words. You can tell how many mystery words there are, as well as how many letters are in each one, by the squares at the top of the play area. Given the fact that there are tens of thousands of words in the English language, even having just three or four letters to choose from can feel a little bit overwhelming. When in doubt, just try every combination you can – even if you don’t think it’s a word! Eventually, you’ll get all of the mystery words figured out, and once that’s accomplished, you move on to the next level. If you really do get stuck, there is a hint feature. Use it as sparingly as you can, however, because it’s going to cost you some serious moolah! Not real money, of course – the in-game currency that you earn with each level.
New Version, Old Genre
Our favorite part about this free online Wording game is that it puts a new spin on a very old tradition. As far back as the ancient Greeks, history has documented several examples of word simple word games played between bored soldiers as well as regular townsfolk. Then, in the mid-20th century, we saw a boom in word games as board games surged in popularity. Scrabble, word searches, and tons of other games flooded popular culture like a tidal wave. Finally, as video games came to prominence in the early 80s, we found ourselves surrounded by even more options. The more innovative word games we come up with, the more ways we learn to exercise our brains while having fun, which is what games like Wording are all about. It’s simple, satisfying, and really hard to put down as a result!
Who Knew 26 Letters Could Do So Much?
Obviously, the alphabet never changes – or at least it hasn’t yet. From a creative standpoint, this might seem like a road block for game developers. “They’re bound to run out of content ideas eventually, right?” The trick is to think beyond the 26 letters and into the thousands of ways you can play with them, which is exactly what games like Wording do. In order to keep that sprit of creativity and resourcefulness alive in the gaming space, we created a full category of spelling games so all of our fans can enjoy this diversity completely free of charge. Whether you’re a visual learner, someone who prefers to learn by doing, or just out to have a little fun on a rainy day, these games will keep you entertained for hours on end. First things first, however – we have a challenge for you! Can you make it past level 20 of Wording?
